A teenage boy was struck and critically injured in a Fullerton pedestrian accident while crossing the street. According to a news report in Patch.com, the major injury collision occurred in the early morning hours of June 29 in the 900 block of North Placentia Avenue. The boy was transported to an area hospital with major injuries. Police say preliminary investigations show a black 2017 Nissan Sentra driven by a 45-year-old woman was going south on Placentia just north of Nutwood Avenue when it struck the pedestrian who was crossing eastbound on Placentia Avenue outside a crosswalk. Buena Park police have arrested a man who was believed to have been under the influence of marijuana when he fatally struck 51-year-old San Tec Tamayo. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred the night of June 23. Officers found Tamayo unresponsive. He had been hit while crossing the street with his family in a marked crosswalk at Western Avenue and Jackson Way. Four students were injured in a pedestrian accident after a teen driver struck them at an intersection in Paramount right outside their high school. According to a KTLA news report, the students had just gotten out of school the afternoon of March 19 and were near the intersection of Rosecrans and Downey avenues outside Paramount High School when they were hit by a pickup truck that went out of control. A man was killed in a Santa Ana pedestrian accident the morning of Feb. 7 after a car struck him while he was crossing the street. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Bristol and First streets. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Based on the preliminary investigation, officials say the pedestrian was walking east across Bristol in the crosswalk.

The vehicle was headed north on Bristol when the collision occurred. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Investigators don’t believe alcohol or drugs played a part in this fatal crash. No arrests or citations were reported pending an official investigation. Continue reading →

Three pedestrians suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a driver who officials say was under the influence and was fleeing the scene of another crash nearly struck them. According to a KTLA news report, 32-year-old Luis Tecun allegedly crashed his 2011 Camaro into a vehicle on Brand Boulevard and Harvard Street the night of Jan. 27. He drove away from the scene with the victim trailing behind him. Tecun then allegedly crashed into a parked vehicle at Brand and Maple Street. A man was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident in Costa Mesa early morning on Jan. 2, 2018. According to a City News Service report, the fatal collision was reported about midnight on Newport Boulevard between 17th and 18th streets. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was crossing the street outside the crosswalk when he was struck. The driver of the vehicle and witnesses remained at the scene and were helping police with the investigation. A 74-year-old man suffered critical injuries in a pedestrian accident in Anaheim. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred the afternoon of November 4, 2017. A 27-year-old man driving a Jeep Wrangler was turning north onto South Lemon Street from East Orangefair Mall when he struck the pedestrian. The older man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries that were not specified. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. A 58-year-old woman was killed in a Huntington Beach pedestrian accident after a vehicle struck her at a street intersection. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal collision was reported the night of October 19, 2017 at the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Tucana Drive. Officials say a driver in a Nissan Rogue was traveling north on Goldenwest Street and struck a pedestrian walking east across the same street.

The driver, a 55-year-old Huntington Beach woman, remained at the scene. The victim was also a local resident. No citations or arrests have been reported and the investigation is ongoing.
