Enrique Ramirez Sanchez, 49, a tow truck driver, suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a speeding driver while responding to a car accident outside Beaumont, officials said. According to a KTLA news report, Sanchez was called to the scene of a solo crash on Highway 79 the morning of Feb. 23. The driver of the overturned car was not hurt. David Slavitt, 32, suffered major injuries in an Antelope Valley car accident after he crashed into a large truck in Llano April 22. According to a KTLA news report, the incident occurred a the intersection of 165th Street East at Avenue T when they say Slavitt was video blogging on his YouTube account where he has more than 1,500 subscribers. Jorge Lopez, a 57-year-old electrician with Caltrans was struck and killed in a freeway accident in Acton the morning of September 1, 2016. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, Lopez was standing outside his vehicle on State Route 14 when a tanker truck struck him. Two other Caltrans employees driving behind Lopez were not injured. The incident occurred at Red Rover Mine Road.
Governor Jerry Brown issued a statement in honor of Lopez saying that the death of this 16-year agency veteran marked the 185th Caltrans employee to die on the job. Caltrans has said it would post notices on its statewide network of electronic highway signs reminding motorists to watch out for highway workers. Officials are once again reminding motorists to slow down, watch out for highway workers and safely move over a lane when passing work crews.

Two mothers and four children were killed in a fiery car accident early morning on June 28, 2016. According to a KABC news report, the two dads were airlifted to area hospitals for injuries they sustained while trying to save their families from a burning minivan. California Highway Patrol officials said the crash occurred on the southbound 5 Freeway near Gorman School Road.
A minivan carrying two families collided with a black BMW and stopped on the far right shoulder, still partially in the lane. The minivan was then rear-ended by a semi-truck, pushed into a ravine and caught fire. CHP officials and the two fathers desperately tried to save the women and children trapped in the burning vehicle, but were not successful. Both men suffered burn injuries to their hands and faces. An investigation is still ongoing.

A distracted truck driver caused a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Riverside, that left three people hospitalized and four cars badly damages.

Rick Kagamaster, 63, of Irvine, was killed in a San Bernardino County truck accident the afternoon of August 9, 2015.
According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal motorcycle versus truck accident occurred at the 18 Freeway and All View Drive in Running Springs.
California Highway Patrol officials said the driver of the truck, 20-year-old Oscar Eduardo Garcia, ran a stop sign and caused the collision.

A driver was killed in a truck accident in Ontario after the tractor-trailer he was driving struck another big-rig that was parked on the shoulder and veered off the roadway. According to a press release issued by the San Bernardino County Coroner, California Highway Patrol officials were sent to the northbound Interstate 15 early morning on January 30, 2014 after reports of a two-vehicle accident. The officers found the tractor-trailer, which came to rest at the southbound Interstate 15 to Interstate 10 overpass. The driver of the tractor-trailer died at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

A bus driver suffered major injuries and three students were hospitalized after a school bus accident in Santa Maria. According to a news report in the Santa Maria Times, the loose fertilizer arm of a passing farm truck crashed into the front of a school bus transporting 10 students to Righetti High School the morning of October 30, 2013. Three students, identified as Morgan Garten, 15, Julisa Gutierrez, 15, and Koby Ernst, 14, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The 44-year-old bus driver, Yolanda Zepeda, suffered major injuries, but she is expected to survive.

At least one person was injured in a Newport Beach car accident after two vehicles collided at a street intersection, the afternoon of September 21, 2012. According to the Daily Pilot, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Newport Coast Drive and Vista Ridge Road. Officials say the accident involved a delivery truck and a small passenger vehicle. The five-ton truck and a smaller car came into “full-speed contact” at the intersection, police said. One person was transported to an area trauma center in stable condition. Both vehicles were traveling at about 40 mph at the time of the crash.

A major car accident in Santa Clarita involving two cars and a big rig left two people dead and several others injured early morning on September 4, 2012. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal crash occurred on the 5 Freeway near Gorman. California Highway Patrol officials say the cars were traveling southbound and collided with each other for an unknown reason. Four of the injured have been hospitalized in critical condition, while five more sustained non-life-threatening injuries. At least one of the victims is a child who has been rushed to the hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing.
