A Los Angeles County car accident involving a Foothill Transit bus and two cars sent seven people to the hospital. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the bus accident occurred at Mission Boulevard and Dudley Street in Pomona the afternoon of August 3, 2012. Officials have not released information regarding how or why the accident occurred. Three people on the bus suffered serious injuries and four others sustained minor injuries. Officials are still looking into what caused this crash.

Three people were injured in a Garden Grove bus accident, which involved an Orange County Transportation Authority bus and three other vehicles, the morning of May 9, 2012. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred on the eastbound 22 Freeway at Harbor Boulevard. California Highway Patrol officials say the chain-reaction collision started when an OCTA bus rear-ended an Acura sedan on the freeway as it merged from the Harbor Boulevard on-ramp. The impact of the collision pushed the Acura into a Ford Mustang, which in turn crashed into a pickup. Three people were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mei Chen, 82, was killed in a pedestrian accident in Rosemead after she was hit by a tour bus while crossing the roadway. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the afternoon of February 10, 2012 at the intersection of Garvey and Walnut Grove avenues. Chen was walking in a crosswalk when the tour bus attempted a right turn and struck her. The elderly pedestrian died at the scene. Police are looking into what caused this fatal pedestrian accident.

Just recently, two dozen people involved in the fatal church bus accident near Twin Peaks have been taken from the scene to hospitals, San Bernardino County authorities said. One person was fatally injured in the accident that occurred about 11:50 a.m. Monday as the bus was traveling westbound down a slippery Highway 189, said Officer Mario Lopez of the California Highway Patrol.

At least 13 people were injured in a tour bus accident in Vacaville the afternoon of May 23, 2011. According to a CBS News report, the injury collision occurred off the Interstate 80 when a tour bus veered off the roadway and crashed through 50 to 60 feet of perimeter fencing on Lyon Road, near Cherry Glen Road. There were 50 people on board the bus including the driver. California Highway Patrol officials said 13 people were transported to local hospitals. All victims are expected to survive. Officials say the bus was exiting the freeway when it went out of control and crashed. An investigation is ongoing.

Eight people were injured in a Los Angeles car accident involving four buses and one car, the morning of May 19, 2011. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the major injury accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway, near Washington Boulevard, in Commerce. California Highway Patrol officials report that the chain reaction collision was triggered by a car that suddenly slowed down in front of one of the buses. The bus directly behind the car slammed on the brakes. Three buses, which were behind the first bus, collided. Two of the injured victims were inmates and six were military personnel. One of the victims was critically injured. An investigation is ongoing.

A motorcyclist was killed in a bus accident in Los Angeles when he collided with a bus the afternoon of February 7, 2011. According to a news report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, the fatal bus accident occurred at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Mountain Avenue in Claremont. The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries. There were no passengers in the bus and the driver of the Foothill Transit bus was uninjured. An investigation is ongoing.

The report does not give any specifics as to how this fatal accident occurred. There are more questions than answers here at this point. Did the bus driver attempt an unsafe turn without looking for oncoming motorists at the intersection? Did one of the motorists fail to properly obey traffic lights at the intersection? Was either driver impaired, speeding or driving distracted? Did the bus driver make a dangerous lane change? Did one of the vehicles fail to yield right-of-way at the street intersection?

Three people were hurt in a Los Angeles car accident involving a school bus and another vehicle, which officials say, was caused by a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the injury accident occurred at the intersection of East 166th Street and Clarkdale Avenue in Norwalk the afternoon of December 6, 2010 when a pickup truck collided with the school bus. Two high school students in the bus suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 30-year-old Ramon Garcia, is suspected of driving under the influence. He was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

Eduardo Gayton, 70, was killed and 21 students in a school bus were injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say, was caused by a teenager who was possibly driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the fatal DUI car accident occurred the morning of October 25, 2010 at the intersection of East First Street and Soto Avenue in the Boyle Heights area.

A 17-year-old boy, driving his parents’ BMW, sped through a red light, struck Gayton who was walking in a crosswalk, and then plowed into a school bus with 46 students on board. The teen driver and two other boys in the car fled the scene of the car accident, but were arrested shortly afterward. The driver faces possible murder or manslaughter charges in addition to felony DUI and hit-and-run.

A school bus accident on the Interstate 805 in San Diego resulted in injuries for at least one person, 10news report. California Highway Patrol officials said the injury crash occurred near State Route 163 the morning of September 28, 2010, when the school bus was struck by another vehicle from behind. It appears that the school bus driver may have been injured because there was extensive damage to the front of the bus, which had also struck a tree. There were no students in the bus at the time. Officials are investigating the cause of the accident.

I hope the victim in this case has not sustained catastrophic injuries. I wish the victim the very best for a quick and full recovery. It is indeed fortunate that there were no students on the bus. This accident could certainly have been a lot worse.
