Cathrine Marie Harless, 63, was killed in a San Diego car accident after, officials say, she was struck by a suspected drunk driver. According to a 10news report, the fatal collision occurred the night of October 2, 2010, when her pickup truck was struck head-on by another pickup truck, which veered into her lane. Harless and her two dogs died at the scene. The crash occurred on Alpine Boulevard near Dunbar Lane, in Alpine. The driver of the other pickup, who has not yet been identified, was also injured. But officials say he is expected to be booked on suspicion of drunk driving.

Police in Lake County are looking for a hit-and-run driver who they say ran a stop sign, struck and killed a motorcyclist the morning of September 24, 2010. The Record-Bee reports that the fatal hit-and-run car accident happened at the intersection of Highway 29 and Seigler Canyon Road. The rider was southbound on Highway 29 on a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle when the driver of a Chevy Suburban drove through a stop sign and hit the motorcyclist. Witnesses saw the Suburban make a U-turn and flee the scene of the accident. The motorcyclist died at a nearby hospital.

My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved this motorcyclist for their tragic and devastating loss. They will be in my prayers.

A school bus accident on the Interstate 805 in San Diego resulted in injuries for at least one person, 10news report. California Highway Patrol officials said the injury crash occurred near State Route 163 the morning of September 28, 2010, when the school bus was struck by another vehicle from behind. It appears that the school bus driver may have been injured because there was extensive damage to the front of the bus, which had also struck a tree. There were no students in the bus at the time. Officials are investigating the cause of the accident.

I hope the victim in this case has not sustained catastrophic injuries. I wish the victim the very best for a quick and full recovery. It is indeed fortunate that there were no students on the bus. This accident could certainly have been a lot worse.

A motorcycle officer was critically injured in a Los Angeles car accident after a driver turned left in front of him, The Daily Breeze report. The officer, a member of the Torrance Police Department was riding his motorcycle west on Redondo Boulevard the morning of September 30, 2010. A Chevrolet Astro van, driven by 49-year-old Magda Villaneuva who was heading east on Redondo, then made a left turn ahead of the motorcyclist to enter Alondra Park near Yukon Avenue. The officer’s motorcycle crashed into the side of the van. He was thrown about 30 feet into the air and landed on the street. The officer was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

My heart goes out to the severely injured police officer in this case. I wish him the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. He and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

A 38-year-old Huntington Beach man was critically injured in an Orange County car accident after his pickup truck was hit by another vehicle that was making a left turn at an intersection. The Orange County Register reports that the major injury collision occurred the evening of September 28, 2010 at the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Palm Avenue in Huntington Beach. A BMW was making a left turn from Palm onto Goldenwest when it struck the Ford pickup. The truck then rolled due to the impact and its driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The other driver complained of pain. An investigation is ongoing.

Francisco Cinto, 40, was killed in an Orange County car accident after his disabled car was rear-ended by an SUV on the 5 Freeway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Cinto’s Toyota Corolla was stopped in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Alicia Parkway, the night of September 27, 2010. Cinto had the hazard lights on, but was rear-ended by a 2007 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 21-year-old man. California Highway Patrol officials say the Tahoe struck the Corolla while travelling at about 70 mph. Cinto was in the car and was found dead when firefighters arrived. The driver of the SUV sustained moderate injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

Jason Cuellar, 8, was killed in a Fresno car accident after a vehicle in which he was a passenger was struck by a driver who police say ran a red light at an intersection. According to a CBS news report, the fatal crash occurred the evening of September 26, 2010, when an SUV traveling on Shepherd Avenue ran a red light at Champlain Drive and crashed into a Honda Civic. The Honda then struck a Volkswagen, which was waiting to make a left turn at the intersection.

Two people were killed and three others were seriously injured in a car accident, which officials say, was caused by a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in The Fresno Bee, the fatal car crash occurred the night of September 24, 2010 on Road 208 near Terra Bella. California Highway Patrol officials say 23-year-old Adrian Ramos drove through a stop sign at Avenue 96 and collided with a westbound car driven by 69-year-old Manuel Valencia. Two people in Valencia’s car were killed. Ramos, Valencia and a passenger in Valencia’s car identified as 49-year-old Juan Hernadez, were hospitalized with serious injuries. Ramos was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

A 25-year-old motorcyclist, who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run car accident collision the morning of September 18, 2010, has been identified as Valentin Cruz. The Visalia Times-Delta reports that the hit-and-run collision occurred at the intersection of Avenue 8 and Road 184. Cruz was riding a motorcycle west on Avenue 8 when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle, which fled the scene. Cruz suffered a broken arm and leg. A vehicle or driver description is not available.

A worker at a Long Beach rail facility suffered fatal job injuries after a crane collapsed on top of him. The Los Angeles Times reports that the accident occurred the morning of September 18, 2010 at the facility in the 2400 block of East Sepulveda Boulevard. The worker was apparently standing under the crane and doing some repair work when it fell on top of him, killing him instantly. Another worker was also injured when he or she was pinned under the collapsed crane. It is not clear how serious that worker’s injuries were.
