A 69-year-old woman was injured in a San Diego car accident after she was hit by a vehicle at a street intersection. The North County Times reports that the pedestrian accident occurred near the intersection of Via De La Valle and Cancha De Golf in Rancho Santa Fe the afternoon of October 8, 2010. The woman sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area medical center. The 71-year-old male driver of the car was not injured. An investigation is ongoing.

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 63 people were killed and 998 were injured in San Diego County pedestrian accidents.
