Modesto Car Accident Proves Fatal for Man
Kevin Vigil, 45, was killed in a Modesto car accident after the vehicle in which he was a passenger was struck by a pickup truck on Highway 108 near Knights Ferry. According to a news report in the Union Democrat, Vigil was a passenger in a 1988 Honda Accord driven by 27-year-old Joseph Lopez, the morning of May 13, 2010. Their Honda was struck by a 2001 Chevy S-10 pickup truck driven by 30-year-old Jason Wood. The pickup truck drifted across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with the Honda. Investigators determined that Wood had fallen asleep at the wheel when his vehicle crossed over traffic lanes. Lopez sustained moderate injuries.

DUI Collision in San Bernardino Proves Fatal for 12-year-old Girl
Sandra Ceballos, 12, was killed, and her uncle and her mother, 37-year-old Maria Sigala, were both seriously injured in a San Bernardino car accident caused by a suspected drunk driver. Police say the driver who caused the crash, 21-year-old Alexander Velasco, drove through a stop sign at the intersection of Macy and Mesa streets the night of May 16, 2010 and broadsided a 2004 Kia Optima driven by Sigala. The impact killed Sandra and seriously injured Sigala and her 21-year-old brother. Velasco has been arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving.
Los Angeles Hit-and-Run Car Accident Kills Man
Eugene Jackson, 33, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident that occurred at a city intersection early morning on May 15, 2010. According to a CBS News report, the fatal car accident happened when a Dodge Durango SUV ran a red light on South Figueroa Street at 135th Street, and sideswiped a blue 2009 Nissan Altima causing it to crash. Jackson, the driver of the Altima, was taken to a local hospital where he died shortly after the incident. Eyewitnesses told police that the driver and passengers of the Durango got out of the vehicle and fled the scene of the accident. LAPD officials say two men and one woman, who were all in the Durango, fled the crash scene on foot. Anyone with information is asked to contact LAPD South Traffic detectives at 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
Costa Mesa Man Killed in Bicycle Accident
An Orange County man who was killed in a bicycle accident in an unincorporated area of Riverside County the afternoon of May 10, 2010, has been identified as 55-year-old Alan Earl Miller. The Daily Pilot reports that Miller was riding his bike on Temescal Canyon Road when the driver of a 2003 Ford SUV veered off the roadway and rear-ended Miller’s bicycle. Miller was ejected from his bike and thrown onto the roadway. He died at the scene. The driver of the Ford SUV has been identified as Scott J. Reis, 42. An investigation is ongoing.
My heartfelt sympathies go out to everybody who knew and loved Alan Earl Miller. This grieving family will certainly be in my thoughts and prayers.

Orange County Pedestrian Accident Injures 7-year-old Girl
A 7-year-old girl was seriously injured in an Orange County car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while playing with a friend in front of her Dana Point home. The Orange County Register reports that the injury collision happened near La Paz Avenue and Silver Lantern Street the evening of May 10, 2010. The driver of the pickup or “military-style” truck that hit the girl did not stop and fled the scene of the collision. The child was transported to an area hospital. I sympathize deeply with this young victim and her family. I wish this victim the very best for a quick and complete recovery from her injuries. She and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I trust officials will soon apprehend this hit-and-run suspect and bring him or her to justice.

Newport Beach Car Accident Injures Construction Worker
A construction worker sustained injuries in a Newport Beach car accident after he was hit by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway. The Orange County Register reports that the injury collision occurred the morning of May 13, 2010 in the 8800 block of Pacific Coast Highway near the construction area of the El Morro trailer park. California Highway Patrol officials are looking into what caused the accident. The construction worker was airlifted to Mission Hospital’s trauma center for treatment.
My heart goes out to this construction worker and his family for what they are going through at this time. Based on this report, his injuries seem to have been quite serious, possibly critical. I hope he did not sustain any catastrophic injuries in this collision and pray that he makes a speedy and complete recovery.

Street Intersection Car Accident in San Francisco Bay Area Injures Two
Two drivers were injured in a San Francisco car accident after a speeding vehicle entered a street intersection and broadsided another the afternoon of May 8, 2010. According to a news report in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, a blue Subaru Legacy sedan going south on Brookwood Avenue hit a red Jeep at the intersection of Fourth Street, in Santa Rosa. The Jeep flipped at least twice, eyewitnesses said. The Jeep then landed on its side and its hood crushed into the cab. Both, the driver of the Jeep and the Subaru were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
I truly sympathize with the injured victims in this crash. I hope neither one of them sustained any catastrophic injuries. I pray for their speedy and complete recovery.

Man Killed in San Francisco Bay Area DUI Car Accident
Adam Bajer, 45, was killed and a 35-year-old man seriously injured in a San Francisco car accident after their vehicle was struck by a suspected drunk driver on the I-680, near Fremont. According to a CBS News report, the crash occurred the morning of May 11, 2010 in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Andrade Road, when a pickup driven by 53-year-old Timothy Bartelt veered into another pickup truck. Both pickup trucks went out of control and rolled over. Bajer, the driver of the second pickup truck was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Bajer’s passenger, who has only been identified as a relative sustained severe injuries. Bartelt was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI. An investigation is ongoing.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Adam Bajer, the deceased victim for their tragic and heartbreaking loss. Please keep this grieving family in your thoughts and prayers. I also wish the badly injured passenger the best for a fast and successful recovery.
