A DUI collision in Lake Forest injured 20-year-old Fernando Ambriz the afternoon of September 9, 2010. The Orange County Register reports that the injury collision occurred on Muirlands Boulevard at Aspan Street, when 31-year-old Ryan Churchill ran a red light at the intersection and crashed head-on into a Toyota pickup truck that was waiting for a green light. Ambriz was a passenger in the pickup truck and sustained injuries. But, he is expected to survive. Churchill was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

I’m relieved to hear that Ambriz was not catastrophically injured in this collision. This could have also resulted in serious injuries or fatalities had there been any pedestrians or bicyclists crossing at the intersection. I wish Ambriz the very best for a quick and full recovery.

A number of San Diego personal injury attorneys do some type of pro bono work that is often overlooked by the media and the general public. Pro Bono work is basically services that attorneys perform for free when they see clients that are in need of legal representation, but cannot afford to pay for an attorney. Often, these cases simply must be done to provide justice to the injured party.

The reason you never hear of this pro bono work in the media is because it doesn’t make for a good story. There’s no “gloom and doom” or amazing video footage that goes along with these feel-good stories, so the media rarely reports on it.

Janelle Dalson, 52, one of two joggers attacked in a dog bite incident in Fairfield is recovering from serious injuries, Bay City News reports. Officials say Dalson was jogging in the 600 block of Pavilion Drive early morning on September 10, 2010 when she was attacked by three dogs — a bull mastiff, a pit bull mix and an American bulldog. Neighbors rushed to her help. One person shot the bull mastiff. The other two dogs then ran down the street and began to attack another 34-year-old female jogger.

At this point, another neighbor shot the animals striking them both in the leg. Dalson sustained serious injuries while the other jogger suffered moderate injuries. Animal control officials located the owner of two dogs. The dog owner told officials that the third dog belonged to his son. All the animals involved in this vicious attack were euthanized.

My heart goes out to both these dog bite victims who have been seriously injured. I wish them both the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. They will be in my prayers.
