A massive Pfizer birth control recall has been issued after a packaging error was discovered in early February. As of today, 1 million pill packages have been recalled after several were found to have the wrong number of active tablets. Some packages have too many while others have too few, and those who are taking Pfizer brand birth control will soon find whether the mix up will result in unanticipated pregnancies.
As of now, it is too early to assess the damage inflicted by Pfizer’s error, but our history with manufacturers who have failed to properly produce their products as advertised tells us that this may lead to a number of Pfizer recall lawsuits. Women who have been taking Lo/Ovral tablets, Norgestrel, and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets may find themselves in a position for which they took the necessary precautions to prevent. If so, they may have a claim for compensation against the products manufacturers, as well as any other entity that is found responsible for the mix up.
