An Oklahoma woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Fresenius Medical Care and Davita Inc. alleging that her mother died as a result of side effects caused by GranuFlo, a medication that is used in dialysis treatments.

According to the lawsuit, which was filed Jan. 2 in the Oklahoma Western District Court, Shanterra Goff alleged that her mother, Rhonda Goff, had been prescribed GranuFlo and/or NaturaLyte three times a week beginning in July 2008 to prevent acid build-up in her blood. This is because patients who suffer from kidney failure can no longer clear acid from the blood on their own.

The Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys Yaz attorneys in Orange County have noted an increase in victim inquiries pertaining to Yaz and Yasmin side effects. Not long ago, Yaz was the number one selling oral contraceptive in the nation. Yaz and Yasmin manufacturers, Bayer Healthcare, advertised the drug as a treatment for premenstrual dysphoric disorder, premenstrual syndrome, as well as a viable treatment for acne, but what seemed too good to be true turned out to be just that. Not only have these drugs been linked to serious health conditions, but Bayer’s aggressive marketing campaigns have also been criticized for misleading consumers and providing false information.

Yaz was created in 2001 by Bertex Laboratories which was later taken over by Bayer Healthcare. Yaz was originally produced as Yasmin, but the name was changed to Yaz after Bayer Healthcare took over operations and production of the drug. Yaz contains a synthetic progestin called drospirenone which many believe to be the reason for its life threatening side effects.

Bisnar and Chase Orange County Pradaxa attorneys are moving forward in pursuit of compensation for patients who have suffered injuries as a result of using the medication. Pradaxa is under fire following hundreds of patient reports claiming the drug contributed to serious injuries and death. Pradaxa is a medication manufactured by Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals to help patients who have a higher risk of stroke, but the reported side effects, if proven to be true, create dangers that outweigh the benefits for those who use it.

Designed to combat blood clots in patients who have undergone surgery and are at risk for increased clotting, Pradaxa would usually be prescribed to patients who suffer from atrial fibrillation, a serious medical condition in which the heart does not contract regularly. A member of the direct thrombin inhibitor drug class, Pradaxa hopes to delay the formation of dangerous blood clots that can lead to strokes and other life-threatening medication conditions. The drug has yet to be recalled, which may inadvertently lead to injuries and deaths that could have been easily prevented.

A massive Pfizer birth control recall has been issued after a packaging error was discovered in early February. As of today, 1 million pill packages have been recalled after several were found to have the wrong number of active tablets. Some packages have too many while others have too few, and those who are taking Pfizer brand birth control will soon find whether the mix up will result in unanticipated pregnancies.

As of now, it is too early to assess the damage inflicted by Pfizer’s error, but our history with manufacturers who have failed to properly produce their products as advertised tells us that this may lead to a number of Pfizer recall lawsuits. Women who have been taking Lo/Ovral tablets, Norgestrel, and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets may find themselves in a position for which they took the necessary precautions to prevent. If so, they may have a claim for compensation against the products manufacturers, as well as any other entity that is found responsible for the mix up.

As the number of Darvon and Darvocet lawsuits continues to rise, consumers are starting to question the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s continued approval of this 50-year-old defective product.
