Two women, one of them identified as 40-year-old Irma Zamora, were killed and five others were injured after a car crash in Valley Village. According to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the two women were good Samaritans who rushed to help the occupants of an SUV that crashed into a light pole near the intersection of Magnolia Boulevard and Ben Avenue, the night of August 22, 2012. The collision knocked down light pole and created a highly charged pool of water electrocuting Zamora and the other woman who came forward to help. Five others also suffered electrical shocks and were hospitalized and remain in serious condition. Officials are also looking into why the driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family members and friends of Irma Zamora and the other deceased victim who had good intentions in trying to save the crash victims. However, they tragically died in the process of doing a good deed. My thoughts and prayers are also with the seriously injured victims of this crash. Grace Imai, 74, of Placentia, was killed in a San Bernardino County car accident involving a rear-end collision. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal car crash occurred on the northbound 15 Freeway east of Barstow in Yermo, the afternoon of August 17, 2012. Officials say Imai was a passenger in a 2004 Toyota Sienna with her husband when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. Imai was pronounced dead the morning of August 19, 2012. Officials are still investigating this fatal crash.

A man in his 30s was injured in a Baldwin Park car accident after a vehicle struck him at a street intersection, the afternoon of August 20, 2012. According to The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the injury crash occurred at the intersection of Baldwin Park and Ramona boulevards. Police say the bicyclist was riding at the intersection when a Honda Accord driven by Dora Vielman, 58, struck him. The man’s head hit the windshield of the car. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Officials are investigating the cause of this accident.

Two people were injured in a Los Angeles car accident
involving two vehicles including a swimming pool service truck. According to a City News Service report, the injury crash occurred the morning of August 14, 2012 in the 16600 block of Ventura Boulevard in Encino. One person was injured in the crash and another was treated for exposure to fumes from a small amount of chemicals that spilled. Officials are still looking into what caused this car accident.

Two men suffered injuries in a San Diego car crash after the SUV in which they were traveling went out of control and rolled over multiple times. According to a 10News report, the rollover crash occurred the night of August 13, 2012 on the Interstate 5 just south of Del Mar Heights Road. California Highway Patrol officials say it is not clear what caused the vehicle to go out of control. The Ford Explorer SUV landed on its wheels after rolling over several times, trapping the two men inside. They were extricated and transported to a local hospital. Their injuries have been described as non-life-threatening.

Peter H. Reinert, 57, was injured in an Orange Countymotorcycle accident when his 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle veered off the roadway and crashed. According to a City News Service report, the motorcycle crash occurred along the Ortega Highway in Lake Forest the morning of August 3, 2012. Officials say he lost control of his motorcycle, veered off the roadway and was ejected when it hit a boulder. Reinert has been listed in critical condition with injuries to his head, neck, left leg and left ankle. It is unclear what caused Reinert to lose control of his motorcycle.

A woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a San Bernardino County rollover accident after she was ejected from an SUV. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal rollover wreck occurred the morning of August 2, 2012 along the 10 Freeway’s westbound lanes at the Mountain Avenue onramp. Officials say a white Ford Explorer flipped, ejecting the victim. The woman was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

A 44-year-old woman was injured in a car crash in West Covina after she was struck by a vehicle that was making a right turn. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the major injury collision occurred at the intersection of Azusa Avenue and Rowland Avenue the afternoon of July 26, 2012. Police say the woman was walking on Azusa Avenue when a Ford Expedition that made a right turn from Rowland to Azusa struck her and dragged her for about 20 feet. The driver, a 64-year-old Covina man was not even aware that he had hit the pedestrian. A passerby yelled for the driver to stop and he did. The pedestrian suffered serious leg injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver was not arrested pending an official investigation.

A man was injured in a car crash in Riverside County when a Jeep struck him as he crossed the street. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the pedestrian accident occurred on Stetson Avenue in front of Hemet High School in Hemet the morning of July 25, 2012. Officials say the man was crossing Stetson at Stanford Street when an eastbound Jeep traveling at about 35 mph hit him. The driver said that he could not see the pedestrian until it was too late. The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries. At the time of the report, the driver was not cited for the collision.
