Police Look for Driver and Passenger Who Fled Fatal North Hills Hit and Run Crash

By

Police are looking for a driver and passenger who are believed to have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in North Hills.

According to a KTLA news report, the crash occurred early on the morning of Oct. 5 when a black 2016 Range Rover was traveling at a high rate of speed north on Hayvenhurst Avenue, ran a red light, and crashed into a 2018 Toyota Camry traveling east on Nordhoff Street.

Ongoing Investigation

The Range Rover then collided with a gray Honda Civic and a white Toyota Tacoma traveling west on Nordhoff Street. LAPD officials said the force of the multivehicle collision caused the Range Rover to continue in a northwest direction north of Nordhoff before coming to rest in the middle of the street.

Surveillance video images obtained by police showed two male suspects exiting the black Range Rover moments after the crash and walking away without stopping to help the victims in the other vehicles or identify themselves as required by law. The driver of the Honda, a 56-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department. Her male passenger was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the white Toyota Camry was treated at the scene.

Police have described the driver of the Range Rover as a male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 weighing about 170 pounds, and wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, black shoes, and a white cap. Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD at 818-644-8117.

Our hearts go out to the victims of this horrific crash and their families. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Justice for Victims

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the Range Rover was not only speeding, ran a red light, and crashed into the vehicles, but also left two injured victims at the scene and fled without even stopping to render aid. There are a number of legal violations here.

In such cases, injured victims and their families would be well advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles hit and run lawyer who will stay on top of the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected. An experienced car accident lawyer will also be able to advise victims and families about how their own auto insurance policy might apply to a hit-and-run crash where the at-fault driver hasn’t been apprehended.
