JC Droege, 32, was killed in an Irvine car accident after his motorcycle crashed into a stopped vehicle that had just been involved in an accident. According to The Orange County Register, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway near Sand Canyon in Irvine, the night of March 29, 2012. Officials say Leslie Juarez, 27, of Laguna Beach was southbound on the freeway and travelling at a high rate of speed in a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, when she crashed into a 2006 Nissan Sentra and caused it to enter opposing traffic lanes. A 1995 Toyota Tacoma then collided with the Sentra forcing it to stop, before Droege, who was driving a 1999 Suzuki motorcycle, crashed into the Sentra. Droege was killed in the accident and Juarez was hospitalized with minor injuries. She was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Marie Hardwick, 24, was severely injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the hit-and-run accident occurred outside the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) at Wilshire Boulevard and Spaulding Avenue in Los Angeles, the early morning of March 25, 2012. Officials say Hardwick was struck by a black BMW with no license plates and that there were two men in the vehicle. Hardwick was seriously injured and has already undergone eleven hours of surgery for her multiple injuries including broken legs, ripped tendons and a smashed jaw. Investigators are looking for information about this hit-and-run driver.

My heart goes out to Marie Hardwick following this terrible hit-and-run car accident. Friends say Hardwick had just watched an art film at the museum event along with many others. I pray that she has a complete recovery. Apparently the victim has been so badly injured that she may have to spend several months in the hospital.

A male pedestrian was seriously injured in a Buena Park car accident after a vehicle struck him as he attempted to cross a roadway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred the night of March 27, 2012 on Knott Avenue, north of Lincoln Avenue. Police say the man was in the northbound lanes of Knott walking outside a crosswalk when a car hit him. The female driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. She was not cited or arrested. The pedestrian was transported to an area trauma center with leg and head injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

Herbert Hamilton, 84, was killed in an Anaheim car accident after a vehicle struck him while he was crossing the street in a motorized scooter. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car accident occurred at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Clementine Street, the morning of March 27, 2012. Police say Hamilton was on a power scooter while crossing northbound on Lincoln at Clementine, when a white Dodge Caravan hit him. Hamilton was transported to a local hospital where he died shortly afterward. Officials are looking into who had the right-of-way and whether the man was in a crosswalk when he was struck. No arrests or citations were reported.

A 14-year-old boy suffered severe injuries in a Fullerton car accident after the vehicle in which he was a passenger crashed into a tree. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury collision occurred early morning on March 26, 2012 in the 1000 block of North Gilbert Street near Hughes Drive. Police say the 18-year-old driver of the Toyota Corolla was speeding while traveling southbound on Gilbert. He lost control of the car and crashed into a tree on the wrong side of the street. The road was also slick from heavy rain at the time. The driver managed to exit the vehicle, but the younger boy was trapped in the wreckage. He was freed by firefighters and transported to an area trauma center in critical condition. An investigation is ongoing.

A 2-year-old boy suffered major facial injuries in a dog bite incident after a pit bull attacked him. According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the dog attack occurred the afternoon of March 25, 2012 at a home in the 1200 block of South J Street in Oxnard. Police say the boy was visiting a friend’s house and had food in his hand when the incident occurred. The owner let the dog out of the house and it ran away, officials said. The dog’s owner has been cited for several animal control violations. The boy was transported to an area hospital with significant injuries to his face.

My heart goes out to the injured victim of this brutal dog attack. A police captain on the scene stated that the dog bite injuries are the worst he had ever seen. I’m relieved to hear that the boy’s injuries are not life threatening. I pray for his speedy and complete recovery.

Several people were injured in a Garden Grove car accident after a Honda SUV was hit by another vehicle that was making a left turn at a street intersection. According to a report in Garden Grove TV3, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Gilbert Street, the afternoon of March 22, 2012. Police say an Oldsmobile Alero was attempting a left turn at the intersection when it struck a Honda Element SUV.

The drivers of both vehicles and the passengers in the Honda were transported to a local trauma center. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. One of the vehicles careened into the yard of a preschool. But fortunately there were no children playing there at the time. The driver of the Oldsmobile was cited for failure to yield while turning left. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been factors in this collision.

Officials say this accident could have been catastrophic or even fatal had there been children playing in the yard or if there had been any passengers in the Alero. Two people were injured in a Los Angeles County car accident after their respective vehicles collided at a street intersection, the afternoon of March 21, 2012. According to a news report in The Baldwin Park Patch, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Maine and East Baldwin Park avenues. Police said one of the cars was traveling northbound on Maine Avenue and the other was westbound on East Baldwin park Avenue. Two women, the drivers of the vehicles involved, were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials are still investigating the cause of this injury crash.

Annamaria Victoria Loza, 31, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident when she was hit by a sheriff’s patrol car, the night of March 19, 2012. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the fatal accident occurred in the westbound lanes of Twentynine Palms Highway near Valley View Street in Joshua Tree. Officials say the woman was running across the highway when the patrol car struck her. She succumbed to her injuries half an hour later at a nearby medical center. It is unclear why the deputy was unable to avoid the collision or if Loza was legally crossing the roadway. An investigation is ongoing.
