A man suffered severe injuries in an Orange County car accident involving a motorcycle and a Toyota Highlander, the afternoon of June 21, 2011. According to The Orange County Register, the motorcycle crash occurred at Maple and First streets in Santa Ana. Officials say that it is unclear which motorist had the right-of-way when the Highlander struck the motorcycle at the T intersection. The male motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), four people were killed and 70 were injured in Santa Ana motorcycle accidents. During that same year, 35 fatalities and 801 injuries occurred as a result of motorcycle accidents in Orange County.
