Orange County Fatal Car Accident

By

One person was reported killed in an Orange County car accident on the eastbound 91 Freeway the night of September 2, 2009. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the SUV went from the number one lane all the way across the freeway to the slow lane before crashing just west of Imperial Highway in Anaheim, California. The deceased victim’s name has not been released.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim who was tragically killed in this car accident. My heart goes out to everybody who knew and loved this person. Please keep them in your prayers.

Orange County Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 30 deaths and 2,006 injuries were reported in Anaheim as a result of car accidents. In Orange County as a whole, there were 178 fatalities and 14,185 injuries in 2007 involving car accidents.

This newspaper report does not offer much information about the victim and his condition at the time of the crash, the type of SUV involved or why this fatal Anaheim car accident occurred. At this point, there are more questions than answers. Did the driver suffer a medical condition? Did the SUV have an auto product defect or mechanical malfunction that may have caused the driver to lose control of the SUV and crash? Was there a dangerous condition on the roadway such as debris or spill, which may have caused the SUV to go out of control?

Auto Product Liability Issues

It is important to look into the various factors leading up to a car accident in order to determine cause and liability. If an auto product defect caused this fatal accident, then the auto manufacturer could be held liable. In any car accident case where a vehicle defect is suspected, the victim’s family should take every step to preserve the damaged vehicle, unaltered, so it can be carefully examined by an expert for mechanical problems, vehicle defects and other evidence.

In cases where negligence or wrongdoing is involved, families of deceased car accident victims may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the negligent party seeking compensation to cover funeral costs, loss of earnings and other related damages. If you or a loved one has been seriously injured in a car accident, please consult with an Orange County personal injury lawyer, who will fight for your rights, make sure wrongdoers are held accountable and ensure that you receive fair compensation for your injuries, damages and loss.

The reported number of traffic accident deaths in Anaheim in the year 2007 was 30, according to SWITRS. Here is a link to the 2007 SWITRS report. You’ll see that the number is accurate:

The case seldom happens that it would be because of a product defect. Usually its the negligence of the victims though we cannot really tell when accidents would arise.
