One Killed After Vehicle Crashes into Silver Lake Restaurant

By

One person was killed and two others were seriously injured when an SUV crashed into the front of a restaurant in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, the vehicle was on the wrong side of the street and speeding when it swerved into an oncoming car on the morning of June 17th. The SUV then careened into the L&E Oyster Bar in the 1600 block of North Silver Lake Boulevard.

Injuries and Fatality

The vehicle struck someone riding a motorcycle or a scooter, toppled a tree and on impact, overturned into the building. One person died at the scene and two others, a 72-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, were transported to a hospital in serious condition. The restaurant, which had been providing curbside takeout only, was not open at the time of the crash. An investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this horrific crash. We offer our condolences to the family of the deceased and wish the injured victims the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Causes and Compensation Issues

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the SUV was speeding and swerved into an oncoming vehicle, triggering the crash. There are a number of unanswered questions here. What caused the driver of the SUV to drive erratically? Was he or she under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs? Was he or she distracted at the time? How fast was the driver going at the time of the collision? We trust officials are using eyewitness statements and surveillance video to determine precisely what caused this crash.

In this case, the at-fault party can be held financially responsible for the injuries damages and losses caused. Injured victims can seek compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitation, permanent injuries, disabilities, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Families of deceased victims may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation as well.

Victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles car accident lawyer who will carefully examine all aspects of the case and make sure they receive maximum compensation for their injuries, damages and losses.
