By

Brandon Kimura, 34, was killed in a car accident near the 5 Freeway in Anaheim that involved six vehicles. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred the morning of Oct. 17 on northbound Euclid Street near the 5 Freeway when officials say, a Mercedes-Benz SUV crashed into traffic that was stopped at the intersection. Police say Kimura was the man driving the vehicle that was initially rear-ended by the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crash-Related Injuries

The woman driving the Mercedes was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, but officials said she will remain in the hospital for several days because of another unspecified medical condition. Eight others suffered relatively minor injuries, but declined medical treatment, officials said. Anaheim police said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved. No arrests or citations were reported pending an official investigation.

We offer our deepest condolences to the family of Brandon Kimura for the tragic loss. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

What Caused This Crash?

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the Mercedes-Benz crashed into vehicles that were stopped at the intersection. There are a number of questions here. What caused the driver of the Mercedes to trigger the chain-reaction crash? Was she distracted at the time of the crash? Did excessive speed cause or contribute to the crash? Was she following the vehicles too closely, which prevented her from stopping in time to avoid the collision? We trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what caused the crash.
