Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a driver who struck and fatally injured 48-year-old Arturo Garcia in Pico Rivera, and left the scene of the crash. According to a KTLA news report, Garcia was killed the night of June 14th when a car struck him as he crossed the street in the area of Washington and Paramount boulevards. The surveillance video released by the department shows a sedan rapidly approaching the victim as he crossed the street.
Ongoing Hit-and-Run Investigation
Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene to find Garcia lying in the roadway. He was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Several people ran to the man’s aid after the crash. Officials are hoping someone might have captured the license plate of the hit-and-run vehicle. Police say it might have been a dark-colored Honda Civic.
Garcia’s family found out about the death when a family member spoke to the sheriff’s Pico Rivera station after the victim did not show up for work the following morning. Officials said the family “is devastated” and that the victim’s daughter is urging witnesses to come forward with the information. Anyone with information about this fatal hit-and-run is asked to contact Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officials at 562-949-2421. The investigation is ongoing.
