LA officials are offering a $50,000 reward to find a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed 42-year-old Jeremy Chavarria as he was crossing the street with his family in South Los Angeles.  According to a KTLA news report, the collision occurred on the night of Feb. 26 as Chavarria, his wife, and their 2-year-old son were walking in a marked crosswalk to get to church in the area of 84th and Hoover Street.

A woman suffered major injuries in a hit-and-run crash after being struck by a vehicle and dragged along by the driver.

According to a KTLA news report, the driver allegedly said, “I sure am” after being asked by the victim if he was going to leave the scene of the crash. The collision occurred early on the morning of Feb. 28 as the victim, 61-year-old Sandra Martin, was crossing the 100 block of East Fourth Street. Kathleen Hydrusko, 63, was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Riverside County after an SUV that another driver was towing broke loose and smashed into her car.

According to a report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal crash occurred on the night of Feb. 4. California Highway Patrol officials said someone was using a black pickup to tow a Ford Explorer SUV when the accident happened. Continue reading →

A horrific hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle and bicyclist was caught on video and released by the LAPD with hopes of identifying the driver.

According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, LAPD is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the driver’s arrest.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Jan. 16 when a 28-year-old bicyclist traveling south on Glendale Boulevard approaching Allesandro Street was rear-ended by a silver Hyundai Elantra. The bicyclist was thrown onto the street and the vehicle ran over the bicycle. Continue reading →

Richard Harold Smith, 50, of Newport Beach, was killed after a car accident in Costa Mesa which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver.

According to a news report in the Daily Pilot, the fatal crash occurred on the night of Jan. 20. Officials said they were called to the scene of a hit-and-run and found Smith knocked out of his wheelchair with significant injuries. The driver who struck Smith had left the scene of the crash. Two bicyclists were struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver the night of Jan. 4 in Chatsworth.

According to a KABC news report, the fatal bicycle accident occurred at the intersection of Plummer Street and Lurline Avenue. Police officers in Long Beach are looking for a hit-and-run driver who they say fatally struck and dragged a pedestrian in the Long Beach Promenade area on the evening of Dec. 27.

According to a KTLA news report, the incident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of 4th Street and Pine Avenue. Officers who arrived at the scene found the victim and rendered first aid until Long Beach fire officials responded. The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Continue reading →

A bicyclist was fatally injured in a hit-and-run collision in Venice and LAPD officials are asking for the public’s help to find the person responsible.

According to a KTLA news report, the bicyclist was hit by a dark-colored Chevrolet Bolt near the intersection of Grand and Venice boulevards on the night of Dec. 22. Police said the driver of the Chevrolet struck the bicycle while doing a U-turn, ejecting the bicyclist from his bike and sending him onto the roadway. Continue reading →

A 23-year-old woman was killed in a Burbank pedestrian accident after officials said a hit-and-run driver who may have been under the influence struck her.

According to a KTLA news report, the crash occurred the night of Dec. 10 near San Fernando Boulevard and Delaware Road in Burbank. Authorities believe the victim had been walking in a crosswalk when the vehicle struck her. Officials say the suspect vehicle may have dragged her for several blocks. Continue reading →
