Orange County Seven-Car Pileup Leaves 1 Dead, 3 Injured

By

A Huntington Beach woman was killed and three people were taken to the hospital with injuries after a Honda Pilot sport utility vehicle with a wheelchair lift slammed into a sedan, The Orange County Register reports. The impact crushed the Lexus and led to a seven-car pileup at the intersection of Talbert and Magnolia avenues, the newspaper reports.

Killed in the crash was 69-year-old Anne Shirley Mailman. The condition of the man and woman in the Pilot are still not known. The Pilot reportedly had handicap license plates as well as a wheelchair lift. It is not clear how this chain reaction auto accident occurred, police told the Register. They are still investigating and no one has been charged or cited yet.

Auto accidents are a no-win situation. People are physically and emotionally scarred. This one was no different. One woman lost her life. In the end, it could be just that – an unfortunate accident with people in these seven cars being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

But it is the job of law enforcement and traffic investigators to delve a lot deeper than that and see who was responsible for the accident. What or who caused the accident? Was it someone’s negligence? Did a driver get distracted as they were driving? Was it because of a dangerous condition on the roadway? Or was there some mechanical malfunction in the SUV that caused the crash? These are often the factors any good traffic investigator will take into consideration.

That said, one woman died and three people suffered injuries in this crash. Investigators will do the best they can, but who is looking out for the victims? Who is making sure that they get compensation for the loss, damages and/or injuries? It is always in the best interest of auto accident victims to retain an experienced and knowledgeable personal injury attorney, who will fight for their rights and remain on their side, no matter what.

A resourceful personal injury law firm will conduct a detailed and thorough investigation of the incident and ensure that those responsible for the accident are held accountable. We wish those injured a speedy recovery and express our deep condolences to the Mailman family.
