San Bernardino Car Accident Statistics

According to the 2008 California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 263 fatalities and 8,504 injuries were reported due to car accidents in San Bernardino County. During the same year, 107 people died and 1,925 were injured because of car accidents in the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County.

What Caused This Accident?

It is not clear what caused this tragic accident. This report leaves more questions than answers. Did an auto defect cause Martin to lose control of his vehicle? Was there a dangerous roadway? Did fatigue or distraction cause him to crash? A thorough investigation of the vehicle and the accident scene will help shed more light onto what happened and why.

If the accident was caused by a vehicle defect the manufacturer of the vehicle could be held responsible. If a dangerous roadway is to blame for Martin’s fatal injuries the city or state responsible for maintaining the road could be held liable.
