Three Men Killed in Anaheim Crash

By

Three men were killed in an Anaheim car accident when another vehicle slammed into their car, officials said. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the two women who were in a Mercedes that struck the Kia Soul in which the men were traveling, left the scene, but were found at a nearby hospital being treated for their injuries.

Complex, Ongoing Investigation

The crash occurred early morning on May 4 on Brookhurst Street between Broadway and Orange Avenue. First responders found the cars with front-end damage. The Mercedes had a small fire under its hood, which firefighters were able to quickly put out. Three men in their 20s were in the Kia and were pronounced dead at the scene. After the crash, a good Samaritan drove the two injured women to a local hospital.

The women remained hospitalized as investigators continued to piece together the events that led to the fatal crash. Officials told the Register that eyewitness statements appeared to conflict with those involved in the collision. The manner and circumstances under which the two women left the scene must also be determined, police said.

Even though they left the scene, officials are looking into whether they left because they needed medical attention. Police also have a surveillance video of the crash, which appears to show the Kia Soul stopping in the roadway in the path of the Mercedes. While the Mercedes would normally have the right of way, officials say its speed could play a part in the responsibility for the crash. These are details that could take time to unpack, officials said. Police are asking anyone with more information about this crash to call them at 714-765-1861.

We offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who died in this crash. We also wish the injured victims the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Rights of Victims

Based on this news report, it appears that the investigation is still ongoing and it could take some time to unravel the details. In such cases, negligent drivers can be held accountable for the injuries, damages and losses they cause. In addition to facing criminal charges and penalties, at-fault drivers could be held financially responsible as well. This is why a detailed investigation is critical in car accident cases.

Families of deceased victims as well as injured victims would be well advised to contact an experienced Anaheim car accident lawyer who will stay abreast of the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.
