Katey Sagal, star of the TV show “Sons of Anarchy” was hospitalized with injuries suffered in a Los Angeles pedestrian accident on Oct. 15.
According to news reports, the accident occurred when a Tesla made a left turn while Sagal was in a marked crosswalk and struck her. The driver reportedly stopped to help Sagal. She was transported to a local hospital and treated for injuries.
Ongoing Investigation
A representative for Sagal said her injuries were not life-threatening and she was expected to be treated and released from the hospital. Sagal currently appears on “The Conners.” The incident remains under investigation, but no citations or arrests have been made. Alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash, police said based on their initial investigations.

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the Tesla struck Sagal as she was crossing the road in a marked crosswalk. California Vehicle Code section 21950 states: “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.” The same section also states that the driver of a vehicle approaching a pedestrian within any marked or unmarked crosswalk “shall exercise all due care and shall reduce the speed of a vehicle or take any other action relating to the operating of the vehicle as necessary to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.”
It is unclear as to why the car’s driver did not see Sagal walking in the crosswalk. We trust officials are looking into whether the driver was operating recklessly, while distracted, or was negligent in some other way. In such cases, if the driver is determined to have been negligent, he or she can be held financially responsible for the injuries, damages, and losses sustained by the victims.
