Garden Grove Car Accident Causes Injuries

By

Three people including a young child were injured in a Garden Grove car accident after two vehicles collided at a street intersection, the morning of October 27, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred at the intersection of Magnolia Street and Chapman Avenue. Garden Grove police officials say the collision involved a Dodge Neon and a Chevrolet Suburban. Two of the victims were transported to a trauma center, while one was taken to a local hospital. An investigation is ongoing.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of this accident. I sincerely hope none of the injuries here are life-threatening. I wish the victims the very best for a quick and complete recovery.

Orange County Car Accidents

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 14 fatalities and 647 injuries involving Garden Grove car accidents. During the same year, 141 people died and 13,373 were injured due to Orange County car accidents.

What Caused This Street Intersection Crash?

Based on the news report, it is not entirely clear what led to this injury collision. Did one of the vehicles run the red light at this major intersection or fail to yield right-of-way? According to California Vehicle Code Section 21800 (a): “The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle which has entered the intersection from a different highway.” Also running a red light is a violation under California Vehicle Code Section 21453 (a).

Fault and Liability

I trust officials are looking into whether alcohol or drugs, speed, distracted driving, inattention or some other form of negligence may have played a part in this accident. In such cases, the at-fault driver can be held liable for the injuries and damages caused. Injured victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages.

Car accident victims would be well advised to contact an experienced Garden Grove personal injury lawyer, who will analyze all facets of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. A knowledgeable car accident attorney will also inform victims about how their auto insurance policy applies to an incident where the at-fault driver is uninsured or underinsured. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
