Two Killed One Injured in Fullerton Rollover Crash on the 57 Freeway

Two people died and a third was injured in a Fullerton rollover accident late night on Aug. 6 on the 57 Freeway in Fullerton. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, a 28-year-old woman driving a Honda Accord while going southbound, for an unknown reason, swerved to the right and crossed all lanes. The car struck a concrete wall on the right shoulder south of Chapman Avenue and overturned.

Fatalities and Injury

The driver and a 30-year-old passenger died at the scene. Another passenger, a 30-year-old man was transported to a local trauma center with major injuries. All three were residents of Anaheim. The California Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 714-567-6000.

We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims. We also wish the injured victim the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

What Caused This Crash?

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver in this case suddenly lost control of her vehicle. It is not clear why. There are several unanswered questions here. Was there a roadway defect that caused her to lose control? Was there some type of vehicle defect or mechanical malfunction that caused this horrific, fatal crash? Were any other vehicles involved in this crash? Did the driver take evasive action to avoid another vehicle? We trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what caused this crash.

In such cases, there may be several sources of compensation for injured victims. For example, if you have personal injury protection as part of your auto insurance policy, you may be able to pay for your medical expenses through that even if you were a passenger in another vehicle.

If a vehicle defect or mechanical malfunction caused the crash, the automaker or manufacturer of the defective part can be held liable for the injuries, damages and losses caused. If a dangerous or defective roadway caused the crash, the governmental agency responsible for maintaining the roadway can also be held liable. An experienced Orange County car accident lawyer will be able to analyze all aspects of a crash and help injured victims or families of deceased crash victims better understand their legal rights and options.
