Two Injured in Encino Car Accident

Two people were injured in a Los Angeles car accident
involving two vehicles including a swimming pool service truck. According to a City News Service report, the injury crash occurred the morning of August 14, 2012 in the 16600 block of Ventura Boulevard in Encino. One person was injured in the crash and another was treated for exposure to fumes from a small amount of chemicals that spilled. Officials are still looking into what caused this car accident.

My thoughts and prayers are with the injured victims of this car accident. I wish them the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

Los Angeles Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 227 fatalities and 25,043 injuries involving car crashes in the city of Los Angeles. Countywide, car accidents claimed 554 lives and injured 50,817 people during the same year.

What Caused This Collision?

Based on this news report, it appears that this accident occurred near the intersection of Rubio Avenue and Ventura Boulevard. This is also an intersection where a number of businesses are located. It is unclear as to what caused this accident. Did one of the vehicles fail to yield the right of way to the other at the intersection? Did one of the vehicles run a red light? Did one of the vehicles exit a private driveway or parking lot without properly yield the right of way? Was this collision the result of an unsafe turn? I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine how or why this injury crash occurred.

Fault and Liability

If the driver of the pool service truck is determined to have been at fault, both the driver and his or her employer can be held liable for the injuries and damages caused. If the other driver is determined to have been at fault, he or she can be held financially responsible. Injured victims in such cases can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, loss of wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. Victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced personal injury attorney in Los Angeles who will analyze all facets of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable.
