Fatal Sacramento Car Accident

One man was killed in a Sacramento car accident that involved a garbage truck and a satellite television installation van. According to a news report in the Sacramento Bee, the fatal car accident occurred the morning of February 4, 2010 on Folsom Boulevard near Florin Perkins Road. The vehicles collided and then the garbage truck crashed into a children’s daycare center. The driver of the van died. The driver of the garbage truck was transported to an area hospital with major injuries. Thankfully, no one was harmed at the daycare center.

Tragic Collision

My heart goes out to the family and friends of the man who was killed in this accident. I offer my deepest condolences to them. I also wish the truck driver the very best for a speedy recovery from his injuries. Please keep these victims and their families in your prayers.

On-the-Job Accident

If the details of this news report are accurate, the installation van was heading east on Folsom and turned in front of the Sacramento County garbage truck, which was traveling west at the time. It appears to me that both drivers were on-the-job at the time of the crash. Both, the deceased technician’s family and the injured county worker would be entitled to worker’s compensation benefits.

Fault and Liability

However, in this case, it is also important to look into who was at-fault. This accident occurred at an intersection and that generally means one of these drivers failed to yield right-of-way. I trust investigators are looking into which one of these drivers was at-fault here. If the garbage truck driver was at fault, then the technician’s family could file a wrongful death lawsuit against the county. If the installation technician had made an unsafe turn, then the truck driver could file a claim against the installation company because the technician was on-the-job at the time.

In such cases, injured victims or families of deceased victims would be well-advised to consult an experienced Sacramento car accident lawyer, who will analyze all aspects of the accident and make sure they receive just compensation for their injuries, damages and losses. The best California personal injury law firms will always offer a free and comprehensive consultation to injured victims and their families.
