Man Killed in Costa Mesa Rollover Crash

Aristides Guerra, 53, of Santa Ana, was killed in a Costa Mesa car accident. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the fatal crash occurred the afternoon of May 9 at the intersection of Bear Street and Sunflower Avenue near South Coast Plaza. Police say four vehicles were involved. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one of the four vehicles had rolled over. The driver was trapped inside and unresponsive.

Ongoing Investigation

Emergency personnel who came to the scene determined that the trapped individual, later identified at Guerra, had died from his injuries. A second driver complained of pain and was transported with two passengers from the same vehicle to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

A third driver who complained to emergency responders of back pain was self-transported to a hospital while the driver of the fourth vehicle was not injured. Police said they still are not sure if alcohol or drugs may have been factors in the collision. No arrests or citations were issued pending the official investigation.

We offer our deepest condolences to the family members of Aristides Guerra for their tragic loss. We also wish the other injured victims the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.

What to Do After a Car Accident

If you have been injured in a car accident, there are a number of steps you would be well advised to take. First and foremost, make sure you file a police report and obtain a copy for your records. It is also important that you get prompt medical attention, treatment, and care for your injuries. Try to get as much evidence as possible from the crash scene including names and contact information for those involved, contact information for eyewitnesses, photos and videos of the crash scene, etc.

Contact an experienced Costa Mesa car accident attorney who will stay on top of the official investigation and help ensure that victims’ rights are preserved. Injured victims in such cases may be able to seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitation, permanent injuries, disabilities, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.

Families of deceased victims can seek compensation by filing a wrongful death lawsuit as well. Car accident cases involving multiple vehicles can be complicated. So, it is crucial that you get in touch with an experienced car accident lawyer as soon as possible.
