Man Suffers Leg Injuries in Fullerton Car Accident

By

A man suffered a severe leg injury after a vehicle struck him as he was getting out of his car. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, a woman in her 50s was driving west in the 2100 block of Valencia Drive the evening of March 30, 2016 when she veered into a nearby parked car. She struck the car and a man in his 60s who was exiting his vehicle. He was transported to an area trauma center with leg injuries, but his injuries are not considered to be life threatening. The female driver was taken to an area hospital with complaints of pain. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the man who suffered the severe leg injuries. We wish him the very best for a quick and full recovery.

Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2013 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were eight fatalities and 842 injuries reported as a result of car accidents in the city of Fullerton. In Orange County as a whole, 165 people died and 13,837 were injured due to traffic accidents during the same year.

What Caused This Crash?

Based on this news report, it appears that the female driver lost control of her vehicle, veered into the parked car and struck it. It is unclear as to why she did that. There are a number of questions here. Was the driver under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs? Was she distracted or inattentive at the time of the collision? Was she fatigued or drowsy at the time? These are just some of the questions that must be answered in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.

Fault and Liability

If the woman is determined to have been at fault, she can be held liable for the injuries and damages caused. Injured victims in such cases can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost wages, hospitalization, rehabilitation, permanent injuries, disabilities, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Injured victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced Fullerton personal injury lawyer who will stay abreast of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.
