The driver of a Toyota RAV4 was injured in an Anaheim auto accident involving a rear-end collision. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the car crash occurred on the southbound 57 near Ball Road, the morning of June 27, 2012. Officials say a Toyota Corolla struck the RAV 4 from behind resulting in the two vehicles blocking the number three and four lanes of traffic. The driver of the RAV4 was transported to a nearby medical center. It is not clear if the other driver will be cited for the crash.
My thoughts and prayers are with the injured victim of this Orange County crash. I wish the victim the very best for a complete and speedy recovery.
Anaheim Car Accidents
According to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 23 people were killed and 1,970 were injured in Anaheim car crashes in 2009. During that same year, there were 141 fatalities and 13,373 injuries sustained in Orange County auto accidents.
What Caused This Injury Accident?
It is not clear from this news article as to what led to this rear-end collision. I trust investigators are looking into whether the female driver of the Corolla was exceeding the speed limit. Did driver distraction play a part in this collision? Did alcohol contribute to the crash? Was the driver of the Corolla following the SUV too closely? According to California Vehicle Code Section 21703: “The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicle and the traffic upon, and the condition of, the roadway.”
If it is determined that the driver of the Corolla was at fault, she can be held liable for the injuries caused to the other driver. Injured victims in such cases can seek compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost earnings, hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related expenses. Car accident victims would be well advised to seek the counsel of a knowledgeable personal injury attorney in Anaheim, who will analyze all facets of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable.
