Orange County Truck Accident Causes Injuries

By

A U.S. Marine was injured in an Orange County car accident that involved an overturned big rig. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the truck accident occurred on southbound 5 Freeway near Christianitos Road in San Clemente, the morning of July 25, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say a big rig sideswiped a Honda and fled the scene of the crash. Then, a box truck attempted to avoid the Honda and ended up striking another vehicle, before rolling onto its side. The Marine sustained non-life-threatening injuries in this crash.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victim who was injured in this hit-and-run car accident. I wish this person the very best for a complete and speedy recovery.

Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), one person was killed and 164 were injured in San Clemente car accidents. During that same year, 70 fatalities and 11,770 injuries occurred due to Orange County car accidents.

What Caused This Truck Accident?

Based on this news report, it is not quite clear what led to the car versus truck accident. Was the driver of the big rig driving at a high rate of speed? Was the big rig attempting to make an unsafe lane change? Whatever the cause of the crash, it was illegal for the driver of the big rig to flee the scene. California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) states: “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.”

Not only is it illegal to leave the scene of an injury collision, but it is also inhumane and irresponsible. If you have any information about this hit-and-run crash, please visit our web site at www.hitandrunreward.com to leave an anonymous tip and become eligible for a $1,000 reward.

Liability Issues

Victims of hit-and-run drivers may pursue financial compensation for the injuries they have suffered by filing a personal injury claim. In cases where the at-fault driver is not identified or located by the authorities, compensation may still be available for the injured victim through the uninsured or underinsured motorist clause of his or her auto insurance coverage. An experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer will stay abreast of the official investigation and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable.

California Truck Accident Lawyers

Trucks have always been considered safer due to their stronger build, but in reality their higher center of gravity makes them more prone to rollover. What do you think?

I’d rather drive a truck than a car
I’d take a car any day
Car companies should find ways to make trucks safer
