Woman Injured in Fullerton Car Crash

By

A Fullerton car accident left one woman seriously injured the morning of May 24, 2010, The Orange County Register reports. The injury crash occurred in the 2600 block of Milton Avenue after a Kia Optima and Toyota 4Runner, both traveling west on Milton, struck each other. The driver of the Kia suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Officials are investigating what caused this accident.

I sympathize with the injured victim. I hope she did not suffer any life-threatening injuries in this crash and pray for her successful recovery.

Car Accidents

Countywide, there were 152 fatalities and 13,414 injuries as a result of car accidents in 2008, according to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In Fullerton, four people died and 743 were injured during the same year as a result of car accidents.

Fault and Liability

This news report does not clearly state who caused this accident. We do not know which one of the vehicles left its assigned lane and which one of the drivers was responsible for the accident. California Vehicle Code section 21658 (a) states that whenever a roadway has been divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic in one direction the vehicle “shall be driven as nearly as practical entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from the lane until such movement can be made with reasonable safety.”

However, it appears that one of the drivers did leave the lane. It is not clear whether the at-fault driver was intoxicated, distracted or trying to make an unsafe lane change. I trust officials will examine these and other issues in order to determine how this crash occurred. The at-fault driver in these types of collisions can be held financially responsible for the injuries and damages caused.

Injured victims in such cases can seek compensation for medical expenses, loss of earnings, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation, physical therapy, pain and suffering, and other related damages. An experienced Fullerton car accident attorney will be able to stay on top of the official investigation and make sure the negligent parties are held liable.

Great article. When I was involved in a motorcycle accident, I hired a local Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney who handled my case, all the paper work and I didn’t have to pay any upfront fees.
