New Program Rewards for Hit-and-Run Information

By

WeTip, a nonprofit anonymous crime reporting service, and the California personal injury lawyers of Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys have just launched the California Hit-and-Run Reward Program with hopes of lowering the devastatingly high number of hit-and-run accidents that occur in California every year.

“California hit-and-run accidents have reached epidemic proportions,” said John Bisnar, founder of Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys. “The goal of the Hit-and-Run Reward Program is to wipe out California hit-and-run offenses by offering cash rewards to anonymous tipsters who care enough to report these crimes.”

The program will reward up to $1000 to witnesses of hit-and-run crimes who submit information that helps lead to the arrest and conviction of offenders. Witnesses can provide hit-and-run information anonymously online at the Hit-and-Run Reward website (www.HitandRunReward.com) or through the Hit-and-Run Reward hotline at 800-6-Hit-N-Run (800-644-8678). As more and more people learn how easy it can be to help report and prevent crimes, more people may strive to act responsibly on the road too.

“We’re extremely pleased Bisnar Chase Personal Injury Attorneys is committed to eliminating the serious and ever growing crisis of hit-and-run driving offenses in California,” said Susan Aguilar, CEO of WeTip. “Financial and technical support, such as the Hit-and-Run Reward program, is a crucial ingredient to the success of our initiatives. Not only does it maintain our efforts of preventing crimes and saving lives, it enables citizens to act as the eyes and ears of their communities — safely, conveniently and anonymously.”

The program has launched at an important time since the number of hit-and-runs in California have been on the rise in recent years. In 2007, around 250 people died in hit-and-run car accidents and approximately 25,000 people suffered severe injuries. As the reasons for the rise in hit-and-runs are not entirely known, the possibility that people believe they can get away with “fleeing” from a crime scene to avoid penalty is likely among them. The Hit-and-Run Reward Program will provide communities with the tools to catch perpetrators and remind all drivers to accept responsibility on the road.
