A 54-year-old Long Beach man critically injured by a car on November 27, 2008 while getting out of his vehicle in Torrance has been identified as David Reichle. He was standing next to his car in the 2700 block of 232nd Street on the morning of 11/27/08 when he was hit by a passing motorist. The female driver who hit Reichle stopped at the scene and apparently told officials that she thought she had only hit Reichle’s car door. This is obviously a tragic accident And David Reichle will be in my prayers. I wish him the very best for a quick and complete recovery.
Reichle had come to Torrance to participate in the annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot when this accident occurred. He was transported to an area hospital where he remains in serious condition. Officials are looking for witnesses who may have seen the accident or have more information about it. They are also looking for a bicyclist who was seen in the area at the time of the accident. I very much question the story of the other motorist in this case who claims that she only hit the car door. Obviously, she hit and seriously injured Reichle. Eyewitnesses will be extremely important in this case.
