Man Killed In Santa Clarita Motorcycle Accident

By

Officials in Santa Clarita are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident where a 25-year-old man was killed after crashing into a cement mixer truck. According to an article in the Santa Clarita Signal, http://www.thesignal.com/?module=displaystory&story_id=53125&format=print the collision – the second fatal motorcycle accident in just one week in that area – occurred at the intersection of Golden Valley Road and Robert C. Lee Parkway.

According to the report, the motorcyclist, David Glenn Garrett of Newhall, was traveling west on Golden Valley when he struck the right side of the cement truck, which was attempting to make a left turn on Robert C. Lee Parkway. Some witnesses reportedly told officials that Garrett was traveling at a high rate of speed, but officials have not yet been able to determine who was at fault, the Signal reports.

Garrett was dragged about 30 feet by the cement truck and died at the scene, the article said. The driver of the truck was on the job and was on his way to a construction site in the area. He was not injured. Investigators are also trying to pinpoint the cause of the accident. They will examine witness statements, speed assessments and toxicology tests to determine why the crash occurred and who was at fault, the report said.

This area of Santa Clarita is apparently quite notorious for motorcycle accidents. According to the article, four out of the last five fatal traffic collisions in the city of Santa Clarita have involved motorcycles. Only one week before this accident, 20-year-old Kyle Seaholm was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck.

While city officials and police in Santa Clarita are wondering how to combat this problem in their city and how to promote better awareness about motorcycle safety, the victim’s family would be well-advised to seek the services of an experienced motorcycle accident injury attorney who will make sure their rights are protected and a thorough investigation is done in this case.

Initial eyewitness reports indicate the motorcyclist was probably speeding. But many times, initial reports turn out to be misleading and local law enforcement agencies most of the time, don’t have the resources to follow through with these cases. A knowledgeable personal injury attorney with resources and fire power to investigate the case thoroughly will help this victim’s family find out the truth about this accident.

Also, if it is determined that the cement truck driver was at fault, his employer could be held liable for the accident. If you have questions about a motorcycle accident, please call us for your free consultation.

It disgusts me to see my son’s name used in promotional material for a personal injury lawyer, especially when the information used is inaccurate. My son, Kyle, was killed when he flew off a motorcycle he’d borrowed from a friend and his body impacted the truck. Sometimes accidents are just that and a tragedy should not become an opportunity for greedy people to take advantage.

My deepest condolences, Mrs. Colvin. I also find this very disturbing. Besides, the URL above is not even accurate. Who would trust a lawyer who cannot perform a simple task aside from a lack of sensibility?
