Ruben Crummie, 71, was killed in an Inglewood car accident after he was struck by two vehicles. According to a CBS news report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the night of February 2, 2012 near the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Hardy Street. Inglewood police say Crummie exited his stalled truck to get gas when he was hit. The first car that hit him stopped, but the second driver fled the scene. Police are hoping that witnesses to the incident will provide them information about the second driver. No arrests have been made pending an official investigation.

Jose Javier Diaz, 55, was fatally injured in a Santa Ana car accident after he was struck by two vehicles while crossing the street. Victor Joseph Scallo, 44, was killed in a San Bernardino County car accident involving a hit-and-run driver. Gregory Martin, 54, was critically injured in a Garden Grove car accident after a hit-and-run driver struck him, and a second car then dragged him several hundred feet. Officials say Martin was crossing the road when 29-year-old Guadalupe Quinonez of Santa Ana, who was driving a gray Dodge Magnum, hit him and left him lying on the roadway. Moments later, a white Ford Explorer failed to see the victim and dragged him about 750 feet before its driver stopped and called the authorities.

Martin has been listed in critical condition following the pedestrian accident. Officials used a license-plate number and tracked down the Dodge, which had been abandoned in Santa Ana. Quinonez turned herself in to the Garden Grove Police Department and now faces felony hit-and-run charges and a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended license.

Police say Varillas was driving a Honda Civic south on Euclid Street with her 1-year-old child.

A Chevy Cavalier made a left turn in front of the Civic at the intersection. The male driver of the Cavalier abandoned his car about 50 feet from the Civic and walked away from the scene. Varillas was hospitalized with injuries, but the child was uninjured. Officials are still looking for the hit-and-run driver. He was last spotted at a 7-Eleven market near the scene of the crash.

A 47-year-old bicyclist was killed in an Orange County car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver, the night of December 13, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the bicycle accident occurred at the intersection of Serrano Road and Ridge Route in Lake Forest. Police say the male bicyclist was hit by a white van. The hit-and-run vehicle was last seen leaving the crash northbound on Serrano Road. According to a City News Service report, the injury collision occurred at the Norms 24-hour diner at 470 North La Cienega Boulevard, during the early morning hours of November 17, 2011. Gilani Taylor, 27, suffered life-threatening injuries and her 9-year-old daughter was killed in a Los Angeles car accident involving a hit-and-run driver. According to a KTLA news report, the fatal hit-and-run accident occurred on the 101 Freeway near Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas, the morning of October 1, 2011. A witness to the fatal crash, who was driving behind Taylor, stated that a white SUV sideswiped Taylor’s Chrysler sedan. The Chrysler then crashed into the center divider and slid on its roof before catching on fire. With the help of several Good Samaritans, Taylor was able to escape her burning vehicle, but they could not rescue her 9-year-old daughter. The girl died from her injuries. Taylor was critically injured and is on a respirator.

According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the hit-and-run car accident occurred on Locust Avenue, near Foothill Boulevard, in Fontana. The authorities responded to reports of a truck with a broken windshield driving erratically. Official subsequently found the victim on the roadway, suffering from head trauma. They were also able to track down and arrest the driver responsible for striking the bicyclist. The report does not specify why the motorist was driving erratically. The truck driver currently faces charges of felony hit-and-run. An investigation is ongoing.
