Polaris Industries will recall about 133,000 recreational all-terrain vehicles in the United States because they pose a fire risk. According to a Reuters news report, the company has received more than 160 reports of fire involving the models, including one that resulted in the death of a 15-year-old passenger, and 19 injuries. The defective product recall involves RZR 900 and RZR 1000 vehicles of model years 2013 to 2016 sold between July 2012 and April 2016 for $16,000 to $26,000. Continue reading →

Justin Messerschmidt, 22, of Huntington Beach, was fatally injured in a Los Alamitos car accident when the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado in which he was a passenger veered out of control and crashed into a tree. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the car crash occurred on the southbound 605 Freeway near Katella Avenue, the evening of May 6, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say the 22-year-old driver from Long Beach was traveling at 50 mph in the number four lane when he made an unsafe turn and lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Messerschmidt was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while the truck’s driver suffered major injuries.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew and loved Justin Messerschmidt and are mourning his tragic loss. My heart goes out to the victim’s grieving family as well as the severely injured driver.

The car accident occurred when Elisa, a loving wife and mother of four, lost control of a 1998 Toyota 4Runner SUV that had been sold by Courtesy Toyota. According to the lawsuit, Elisa was trying to avoid another vehicle when her SUV over steered.

Three people suffered injuries in a Los Angeles car accident the afternoon of July 22, 2009 on the 10 Freeway, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports. According to California Highway Patrol officials the driver of a 1995 Ford Ranger lost control of the vehicle. The pickup truck rolled over on its side and became fully engulfed in flames on the westbound 10 freeway near Santa Anita Avenue in El Monte, California.
