Pomona Bus Accident Causes Injuries

By

A Los Angeles County car accident involving a Foothill Transit bus and two cars sent seven people to the hospital. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the bus accident occurred at Mission Boulevard and Dudley Street in Pomona the afternoon of August 3, 2012. Officials have not released information regarding how or why the accident occurred. Three people on the bus suffered serious injuries and four others sustained minor injuries. Officials are still looking into what caused this crash.

My thoughts and prayers are with the injured victims of this Los Angeles bus accident. I wish them all the very best for a complete and speedy recovery.

Los Angeles County Car Accidents

According to California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 15 people were killed and 733 were injured in Pomona car accidents in 2009. During that same year, there were 554 fatalities and 50,817 injuries reported as a result of Los Angeles County car crashes.

What Caused This Bus Accident?

Based on this news report, the bus collided with two cars. It is not clear, however, as to what may have lead to the collision. For example, did the bus driver fail to properly yield the right of way? Did one of the drivers fail to obey a traffic light at the intersection? Was speed a contributing factor in the crash? A complete and thorough investigation will be needed to determine who should be held accountable for the injuries and damages here.

Liability Issues

If the bus driver is determined to have been at fault here, both the driver and his or her employer can be held liable for the injuries and damages caused. Unfortunately, many victims of Los Angeles bus accidents have to fight to get fair compensation for their losses. Injured victims of bus accidents can seek compensation from the at-fault party for damages including medical expenses, lost wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. Victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced Los Angeles personal injury attorney who will analyze all aspects of the incident and ensure that the negligent parties are held liable. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
