Garden Grove Car Accident Causes Injuries

By

The female driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe was injured in a Garden Grove car accident involving five vehicles. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the chain-reaction crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the 22 Freeway near Haster Street, the morning of April 9, 2012. Officials say the accident involved a Toyota Sienna, a Toyota Yaris, a Honda Element, a Hyundai Santa Fe, and a Jeep Cherokee. The only injured victim of this five-car collision, the driver of the Hyundai, was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital. It is not clear who was responsible for the crash or if anyone will be cited in connection with this incident.

My thoughts and prayers are with the woman who was injured in this Orange County accident. I wish her the very best for a complete and speedy recovery.

Orange County Car Accident Statistics

According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 14 fatalities and 647 injuries as a result of car accidents in the city of Garden Grove. During that same year, 141 people were killed and 13,373 were injured in Orange County car accidents.

What Caused This Chain-Reaction Crash?

Based on this news report, it is unclear what led to the accident. There are a number of unanswered questions here. Was this a rear-end collision? Was one of the drivers distracted, inattentive or following too closely? Did one of the motorists make an unsafe lane change? Did speed, driving under the influence, or some other form of negligence play a part in this incident? I trust investigators are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what occurred here and why.

Liability Issues

In such cases, the at-fault party can be held liable for the resulting injuries, damages and losses. Injured victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, lost wages, cost of hospitalization, rehabilitation and other related damages. When a number of vehicles and victims are involved, it would be in your best interest to seek the counsel of an experienced Garden Grove personal injury lawyer who will fight for your rights and protect your best interests. Investigations of multi-vehicle collisions can get tricky because they involve multiple victims, witnesses and insurance companies. Conflicting reports could further complicate the case. A knowledgeable car accident lawyer will be able to secure just compensation for your injuries, damages and losses.
