Los Angeles Motorcycle Accident Caused by Oil on the Roadway

A man was injured in a Los Angeles motorcycle accident when his vehicle skidded on a patch of oil on the freeway. According to a City News Service report, the injury accident occurred on the 110 Freeway, near Century Boulevard, the early morning of September 29, 2011. The victim was traveling with a number of other motorcyclists at the time of the accident. They have stated that the oil in the number two lane caused the victim to lose control of his motorcycle. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. An investigation is ongoing.

Bicyclist Injured in Los Angeles Hit-And-Run Car Accident

A 31-year-old bicyclist was injured in a Los Angeles car accident, the night of September 27, 2011. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the hit-and-run car accident occurred at the intersection of Walnut Street and Los Robles Avenue in Pasadena. The rider was crossing the street at the intersection when a dark-colored SUV clipped the back of the bicycle. The victim sustained facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further examination. Officials are still looking for the hit-and-run driver.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the National Joint Registry for England and Wales said that an all-metal artificial hip once sold by Johnson & Johnson had failed in an estimated one-third of the patients who had been followed for the longest time. The reports listed Johnson and Johnson’s Articular Surface Replacement device, or the A.S.R., as having the highest failure rate. These reports have come as no surprise to the several victims who have come forward with injuries that they feel are directly related to these defective Depuy hip implants.

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Central Park Drive and Edwards Street, the afternoon of September 26, 2011. Investigators say the father was holding a 1-year-old child and had another 3-year-old with him who was riding a tricycle. They were all walking across the street in a marked crosswalk when a motorist making a left turn onto northbound Edwards hit them. All three were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are looking into why the driver failed to see the pedestrians in the crosswalk.

According to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Burbank Boulevard and De Soto Avenue, in Woodland Hills, on September 22, 2011. Officials say Castro was driving southbound on De Soto Avenue and turning left onto Burbank Boulevard, when a northbound Honda struck the rear of her car. The impact sheared the Mustang in two. Castro was injured, as was the driver of the Honda. They were both transported to an area hospital, and are expected to survive.

Carl Scafffide Orange County Auto AccidentCarl Scaffide, 65, of Huntington Beach, was killed in an Orange County car accident after he was struck while walking near a major intersection. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian collision occurred near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and McFadden Avenue in Westminster, the early morning of September 21, 2011. Scaffide was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured. Officials do not believe alcohol was a factor. An investigation is ongoing.

Elderly Man Killed in La Mirada Hit-and-Run Car Accident

La Mirada Auto AccidentRaul Quintanilla, 72, was fatally injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a KTLA News report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred early morning on September 20, 2011 on Santa Gertrudes Street, near Imperial Highway, in La Mirada. Officials say Quintanilla was struck by a Chevy Malibu and dismembered. The driver of the Chevy left the horrific scene without stopping or calling authorities. The car was found abandoned a couple of blocks from the scene. Geoffrey Rocha, 18, turned himself in to authorities about 12 hours after the crash. An investigation is ongoing.

Anaheim Car Accident Leaves Two Injured

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Magnolia and Greenbrier avenues. Officials say that a male driver of an Acura Legend that was southbound on Magnolia attempted to make a left turn onto Greenbrier when the vehicle collided head-on with a northbound Mazda MPV. Officials say a driver, identified as 23-year-old Danilo Hernandez, ran a red light at the intersection before striking another car driven by a man. Arreola, who was pronounced dead at the site of the collision, was a passenger in one of the vehicles. The male driver whose car was hit has also been injured but is expected to survive. Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.

According to a news report in The Ventura County Star, the injury collision occurred the afternoon of September 11, 2011 on Highway 126, near Sespe Creek, in Fillmore.

California Highway Patrol officials say De Los Santos was riding his motorcycle east on Highway 126 when a vehicle that was going the wrong way on the highway struck him. De Los Santos was thrown off his motorcycle and suffered a broken leg, road rash and abrasions. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The wrong way driver, identified as 70-year-old Alicia Gonzalez, has been booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

According to a City News Service report, the injury collision occurred the night of September 5, 2011, when the boy was struck while walking across the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Lemona Avenue in Encino. Police say the driver slowed down to less than 5 mph and then sped east on Ventura Boulevard toward Van Nuys Boulevard.

Officials describe the vehicle as a white Dodge Caravan with a partial license plate of 6RQ and the driver as a white male, 6 feet tall weighing 170 to 200 pounds. The teenager was hospitalized with serious injuries. Anyone who has information about the suspect, vehicle or the incident is asked to contact Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8036.

Four Construction Workers Injured in San Francisco Roof Collapse

San Francisco Construction AccidentFour men suffered serious job injuries in a San Francisco construction accident involving a roof collapse, the morning of August 31, 2011. According to a news report in The San Francisco Chronicle, the construction accident occurred at an apartment building being constructed in the 2200 block of Third Street, close to 19th Street. The four employees of Nibbi Brothers General Contractors were doing a concrete pour when the roof collapsed over a stairwell. The workers fell a couple of floors and were also covered in wet concrete. One of the workers, 22-year-old Justin Castro, suffered a broken leg, a broken pelvis and dislocated arm. Another injured worker was identified as 29-year-old Mauricio Hernandez. Cal/OSHA investigators are looking into the cause of this construction site collapse.
