BISNAR | CHASE Gets In the Spirit with the Adopt A Family Program

California personal injury attorneys and staff at BISNAR | CHASE law firm are happy to be participating in the Share Our Selves (SOS) Adopt A Family Program again this year.

The SOS Adopt A Family program, which is in its 41st year of service, combines community members and their willingness to give to help provide food and gifts to Orange County families who are struggling. During these tough economic times when many people are out of work, the program helps impoverished families enjoy a holiday celebration that might be impossible otherwise.

Individual lawyers and staff members of the BISNAR | CHASE law firm have participated in the Adopt A Family program for sixteen years. The tradition developed into an office event where the whole firm comes together to provide gifts for a few local families each holiday season.

"When Christmas rolls around, that means an all-out, present-wrapping-pizza-party at our office for the staff," said Shannon Barker, legal administrator and office manager at BISNAR | CHASE who says the firm's staff members come together, usually a week or two before Christmas, to wrap presents for the families they adopt. "This is something we've been doing for as long as I can remember and it's a tradition we look forward to every year."

The Way Adopt-A-Family Works

Costa Mesa and Santa Ana schools recommend needy students and families to Share Our Selves (SOS) and then donors can sign up to provide for the family. A donation includes at least two new gifts for every child in the family or food or gift cards for a complete dinner. Donors can also contribute extra toys, gifts, food, financial assistance, or volunteer services at the SOS donation center in the time leading up to Christmas.

Like BISNAR | CHASE, companies, schools, organizations, and institutions can be donors to SOS, and can adopt multiple families.

Elizabeth Evans of SOS says, "The Adopt A Family Program is a true volunteer effort and SOS is extremely grateful to all those who donate their time and resources to make the holiday season brighter for those in our community who are struggling."

John Bisnar, founder of BISNAR | CHASE, describes the Adopt A Family program as a "gift to [his] staff and family." He says, "It gives us an opportunity to anonymously provide a wonderful Christmas to families who might otherwise have little or nothing on Christmas day. The Adopt A Family program is for those who are struggling during the holidays.

Share Our Selves runs many more programs through out the year, providing food, clothing, and emergency financial aid for housing, transportation and prescriptions to poorer families in Orange County.
