BISNAR | CHASE Raises More than $13,000 for MADD
Saturday morning was picture perfect for a walk in beautiful Huntington Beach. This one was for a great cause as well --- a cause that we strongly believe in as personal injury lawyers. The Newport Beach personal injury law firm of BISNAR | CHASE not only participated in the Walk Like MADD 2010 Orange County event on May 8, 2010, but our office also raised more than $13,000 for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. We had excellent participation. A total of 75 employees, family members and friends walked on the BISNAR | CHASE team. I thank all the sponsors and wonderful participants who made this event both memorable and successful for us. We raised $218 just with our dunk tank!
Drunk Driving, A Serious Safety Issue
The MADD event each year is a win-win situation for all concerned. MADD provides invaluable education and awareness to the public about the dangers of drunk driving. MADD members are intimately connected with the cause because these are individuals who have lost loved ones as a result of DUI collisions. It was moving to see a number of walkers participate in memory of their dear ones killed in DUI crashes.
DUI Statistics
Our law firm is proud to be a sponsor of such a significant event and to be a supporter of MADD. The statistics for alcohol-related crashes are alarming to say the least. In 2008 alone, about 11,733 people died in DUI collisions in the country. Alcohol-related crashes cost our nation about $51 billion each year. This is one of the main reasons our personal injury law firm decided to get involved with the Walk Like MADD 2010 event. This is our way of giving back to the community, to create awareness about the dangers of drunk driving and to help victims of drunk driving pursue their legal rights. Drunk driving not only kills, but also has the potential to cause catastrophic injuries that can leave innocent people disabled for life.
A Worthy Cause
I would also like to congratulate our own Danielle Olson who was named best team captain of the 2010 MADD event. Danielle won a free limo ride and lunch for being the inspiring team leader that she is. Here's what Danielle had to say about the recognition: "I think it is an honor that I have such great friends and coworkers and we were able to raise so much money for a great cause. This team came through like no other and I'm proud of everyone." Our hope is to raise even more money next year to help MADD in its worthy endeavors.
