Rollover Accidents Round-Up

Rollover traffic accidents are more common, more prevalent and more dangerous than any one of us can even imagine. About 10,000 people die every year in the United States as a result of these types of auto accidents. Here’s a compilation of rollover accidents that happened this month across the nation:

Jeep Rollover: A 28-year-old woman from the Flint area of Michigan died after her Jeep rolled over when she and others were out four-wheeling in a large semi-rural backyard, according to a blog in the Flint Journal. The man who was driving the Jeep was injured, but in stable condition.

Fatal Rollover: A rollover accident on the Interstate 290 in Chicago left one person dead, according to an article on CBS News’ Web site. It was a one-vehicle crash and no one else was injured. Three freeway lanes were shut down, the report said.

Pregnant woman rescued: A woman who was 9 months pregnant had to be extricated from her vehicle after it rolled over on a Minnesota freeway. Thankfully, the woman did not go into labor and was treated at a local hospital.

Rain-related Rollover: One man was dead and four others were critically injured in a rollover accident on a rain-slicked Texas freeway. They were reportedly cut off by another vehicle that caused the rollover. Officials say neither speeding nor alcohol were factors in the crash. No citations were issued either.

Turkey Truck Rollover: A semi trailer carrying live turkeys rolled into a ditch causing a major turkey spill on a Minnesota freeway. The accident snarled traffic in the area for miles. Many of the turkeys reportedly died and the truck driver was injured.

Girl Killed: A 11-year-old girl died in a one-vehicle rollover accident in South Dakota when a woman who was driving the Nissan van towing a trailer lost control of the vehicle and overcorrected. The driver and three other passengers were hurt, but they did not suffer life-threatening injuries. All were reportedly wearing seatbelts.
